It’s that time of year again in the automotive calendar folks! The NADA show in New Orleans was very well attended, with many car Dealer Principals and their GM’s actively looking at ways to invest their marketing dollars.
This bodes well for the auto industry in general – obviously vehicle sales have definitely been on the upturn over the last couple of years and dealers have newfound confidence in targeted marketing leads via email. Most dealers tended to shy away from email marketing (in the early “wild west “ online marketing days), but over the last few years they have begun to see the value and the fantastic ROI that a targeted email campaign that is deployed through a knowledgeable, reputable, marketing company can give them, and their confidence has grown in this medium.
Targeted mailing lists are still extremely popular with the same dealers, as either a stand- alone, or used in conjunction with an email campaign. Lots of dealers still like the “touchy / feely” sensation of mailing a letter or postcard. They do however realize (mainly due to the sharp increase in printing/postal costs), that any direct mail campaign needs to be targeted to specific vehicle owners (either same make, or conquest vehicle), within a fairly tight radius of the dealership. The days of the saturation mail campaigns are dead!
