Since we spend so much time out of our lives at work, we might as well make the most of it and be happy. Some people look at work as the worst part of their day. Why would you want to live like that?? The work place should be fun, challenging and have a teamwork theme. One of the biggest problems at a work place is “communication.” At Dundee Data, if there is a marketing list like Auto Lists or New Movers in one Alaska zip code, one of us will find a way to get it. When you have years of experience at a company, things go much smoother just by staying in touch with each other. “Healthy competition” is great, as are incentivized performance programs. Most true salespeople are competitive by nature. Contests are great ways to motivate salespeople to strive harder to achieve success, especially if they are competing against each other. Most contests need to be short-term, as the immediate gratification of a contest pay-off is critical for salespeople to stay engaged in the contest itself. “Recognize success.” Schedule specific times throughout the year to recognize successes of the key sales individuals. Sales people love to be recognized for their accomplishments, so make sure you take the time to acknowledge them for their efforts, and they will willingly go out on the edge to make sure they hit their sales numbers. Great salespeople will do whatever it takes to be recognized-and will support you in the process. Don’t forget to have “Fun” in the workplace. Take small breaks and do something for “YOU” so you don’t get burned out.
Sincerely,
Kirk McCormick
